Mobile phones from Samsung CeBIT 2003. Mobile phones from NEC and devices of the future CeBIT 2003. Sharp – mobile phones and PDA CeBIT 2003. Asus – a new player on the mobile phone market Mobile phones from Sanyo are famous in Japanese and US market. The products of this company are almost not presented in other countries. So it was very interesting to look at the exposition of this company, especially a concept design of future models. So, one could see current models at the stand, for example those, which were made for American operator Sprint.
You could read an extract from the research of the independent consumption society and it was stated that among all phones namely handsets from Sanyo are the most pleasing to use. By the way, not the newest and the most advanced phones were positioned under this statement.
Novelties were also shown at the stand, SCP-550, aimed to Taiwanese market is one of them. It has an unusual design; set of features is traditional.
Evidently, design in Siemens style is in fashion now. Smartphone SUP-700 is opened in the same way as smartphone from Siemens. To say the truth, this device is not a real smartphone, as it doesn’t have an open source software, but it has two built-in cameras, they are located on the sides of the sliding cover, what is not stale. By obvious reasons, SUP-700 is a WCDMA model.
A prototype of the typical smartphone (not for European market either) was also exhibited at the stand.
The most interesting were concept developments, for example, classical phones. A digital camera is situated inside the phone; it is appeared, when one presses a special key.
Clamshell phones were not forgotten too. This model differs form other in built-in stereo loudspeakers.
Designers think that 2 displays are a necessity for smartphones. When it is closed, you can work only with one of them. When the phone is open, both displays can work simultaneously.
The last phone enables to record video, an external screen is used as a viewfinder. It is opened as displays of the modern video cameras. Apart from the main lens, there is an extra lens, which has worse quality.
I think now you can imagine the main trends of phones from Sanyo. Eldar Murtazin (eldar@mobile-review.com)
