New K300 camera phone offers imaging for the mass market at entry level price

London – Sony Ericsson today announces a new addition to its award winning mobile imaging portfolio with the K300 camera phone. Using a mobile phone to shoot and share pictures and video will now become available to many more people as this entry level camera phone provides mobile video and picture messaging and is extremely easy to use, so even users new to the idea can share images with their friends and family in just a few clicks. Such affordable simplicity, together with dual front design, classic Sony Ericsson styling and a choice of colours make the K300 the ideal first step imaging phone.

”Now everyone can enjoy picture and video messaging with a phone that is very simple to use,” says Jan Wareby, CEVP and Head of Sales and Marketing of Sony Ericsson. “The K300 has many functions previously only seen in higher end phones so it’s perfect for capturing and sharing special moments, delivers fast and smooth entertainment applications and is also a highly useful work tool.”

The camera is used horizontally, allowing shots to be stable and well framed, and 4x digital zoom gives great results at a distance. Tanks to QuickShare™ it is possible to send video, picture and text messages in just a few clicks. The K300 doubles up as a video and photo album as its 12MB on-board memory will store a sizeable collection of 120 10-second video clips or 500 VGA images. The 65K colour screen makes for good quality viewing of stills and footage.

Enterprises looking for a phone for their employees will find the K300 appealing as its business applications such as built-in speaker phone, PC synchronisation and personal information management make it the ideal affordable, robust work tool. Very useful accessories include Car Hands Free or, for the first time at this price level the QuickInstall Car Kit.

Away from the office the entertainment experience provided by the 3D-Java games engine is fast and responsive, and users can enjoy a host of 2D and 3D games downloaded direct to the phone from Sony Ericsson Fun and Downloads.

The K300 is available in Visual Blue or Smooth Silver and will be in shops starting Q2 2005.

The K300 will come in the following editions:

K300i Triple Band 900/1800/1900 MHz
K300c Triple Band 900/1800/1900 MHz for China Mainland
