BYD and Sonim XP3300. MWC 2011

But for the protected model BYD would have been mentioned in an article about Chinese clone manufacturers, as BYD offers many of them. At the same time they do not come up with many genuine models created in-house. The picture is not that simple though. First of all, the company in question is a division of a Chinese car manufacturer BYD CO Ltd. Then BYD has offers from Nokia and Motorola under its belt. It is a Chinese company, but represents one level above KONKA and friends.

The main product in BYD pavilion is Sonim XP3300 unveiled at MWC 2011. This model will be the first for us to familiarize with BYD.

In terms of dimensions and materials the phone is identical to XP3. We have the same buttons. Keys under the screen were barely changed, but the location of capped jacks was slightly altered. The screen represents a considerable upgrade though. If Sonim XP3 and its relatives had a 1.77" (170x220) screen here we get a 2" (240x320) display, which is not bad for a protected handset.

Apart from the protected model BYD showed many clone offerings. The range is dominated by Android smartphones with large screens and design borrowed from iPhone 4 or HTC products.

Nokia and even Siemens were paid some tribute as well.
