Windows Live Hotmail – worldwide release    [ 07-05-2007 17:44 ]

Microsoft has announced the launch of Windows Live Hotmail. It is designed to substitute MSN Hotmail and available in 36 different languages worldwide. According to Microsoft, the new service provides more comfortable, safe and productive communication with e-mail compared to the previous versions. The users can access it via mobile phones or e-mail client.

The launch of Windows Live Hotmail started on May 7 and will continue for a while. The users can register at www.hotmail.com to get Windows Live Hotmail account. Try this link mobile.live.com to use it with your phone or PDA. Besides later this month it will be possible to handle your account freely via Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Office Outlook Connector beta. Contact and e-mail synchronization will be also available, says the developer.

Nokia has released an update of Sports Tracker – version 1.42. Nokia Sports Tracker is supported by smartphones powered by S60 3d Edition (Symbian). The application can track GPS-data (GPS-receiver can be external, internal, connected via Bluetooth) and automatically store it to a training diary. It offers 6 types of workout, 4 of them preinstalled (walking, running, cycling, skiing). Nokia Sports Tracker collects info such as speed, distance and time and can display it as a graph. Besides the results can be saved as XML-file or get converted to KML for Google Maps (you can add the route to a map or satellite picture).

The latest version has the following improvements: it contains standard bug fixes, supports Metric/Imperial/Nautical measurements and .kml data transfer via Bluetooth or MMS-messages. Here you can get your free version of Nokia Sports Tracker.

Microsoft officials have announced plans to expand its mobile sector by selling 20 million Windows Mobile 6 units in 2008. During the announcement, which came during the 2007 Mobile and Embedded Devices Conference in Las Vegas.

                                         

Microsoft officials also discussed the expansion of their Windows Mobile license agreements. Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division President Robbie Bach reports the number of Windows Mobile based phone licenses grew by more than 40 percent in 2006. Last week the American mobile service provider Alltel Wireless introduced one of the slimmest handset – Samsung SCH-r510, code-named wafer. Being just 8.4-mm thick it features almost all contemporary functions of a mobile phone, including mobile TV, mobile radio and an MP3-player (support for stereo Bluetooth-headsets).

The short technical specs of Samsung SCH-r510 (Wafer):

  • Weight: 70 g

Vertu rolled-out another Ascent phones in new color solution: Strawberry and Cream. I’d remind you that Vertu Ascent debuted in late 2005. This luxury cellphone featuring a 116x148 pixels display, sapphire coating, high-quality 20-mm speaker and Yamaha sound processor. It has hand curried leather on its sides and rear.
