LG 'B' Appears, Making Official Debut At CES    [ 17-12-2010 18:27 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: Phandroid via Engadget     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

LG have been on a bit of a roll recently in terms of wowing the tech press with ne whardware, especially when it comes to the LG Star/Optimus 2X. Anyhoo today Phandroid got their mits on some shots of a new LG device codenamed 'B'.

The device appears to be super thin, in a comparison with the 9.3mm iPhone 4 it leaves the latter looking like it needs to go on a diet. The screen is what is impressing most though because side by side with the iPhone 4 and the Galaxy S, both of which have received praise for their screens, the B looks astonishingly bright.

In case you couldn't tell B is the one in the middle of the picture. Yes, the one outshining the other two.

Best of all LG have confirmed that this thing is very much real and will be on show at CES.

World Lens - Instant Point & Translate Action    [ 17-12-2010 18:24 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: TechCrunch     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Augmented reality promised us so much (and still does to be fair), but you could be forgiven for thinking that so far it's been mostly niche concepts or prototypes that look like they're doing anything even remotely cool looking.

Enter 'World Lens', possibly the coolest looking (and genuinely useful) augmented reality in an age. So what does it do? Well you point it at a sign or piece of text and it translates it for you. So what? It's how it does it, it uses a live view of whatever the iPhone's camera sees and simply changes the words. In other words you see the exact same scene only the words on the sign or whatever other surface are change din the live view.

It's going to cost you $4.99 for a language pack and for the moment it only works with English and Spanish, but this is definitely an app to try. Hopefully it makes its way to other platform soon.

Game For Cats - It's A Game ... For Cats    [ 17-12-2010 18:07 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Kotaku     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

With a game titled 'Game For Cats' you don't need Einstein to work out who this is intended for ... yes that's right, cats! It's basically an iPad version of moving a light around quickly on the floor and watching your cat chase it. In other words it's great fun!

It's a free download so if you have an iPad (and a cat) you might as well give it a whirl.

NOTE: after watching the video it appears that it really is just for cats as dogs appear completely uninterested in it.
