Moto Tablet Almost Ready For Launch    [ 13-09-2010 20:37 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Phandroid     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

It looks like Motorola will soon be joining the rnks of companies with a tablet device on sale if inventory listing reports are to be believed. American network Verizon currently has a device known as the MZ600 listed on its database and it is categorised as a tablet. Most likely the device will launch late this year or perhaps early next year, but that could mean that it might go on sale running Gingerbread instead of Froyo. Other rumoured specifications include a Tegra 2 chip, which would be in keeping with other chatter saying Motorola are looking at the chip for future Android devices.

What the end device will actually be like is still open to speculation at the moment so it's unknown whether it wll be a 'large phone' in the way that the Dell Streak is or whether it's something more akin to the Galaxy Tab. Either way the tablet market is certainly starting to fill up fast.

Angry Birds Full Version Coming to Android In 2-3 Weeks    [ 13-09-2010 19:20 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: TechRadar     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Hot on the heels of the beta version released recently, it has been announced that the full version of Angry Birds will make its way to the Android Market within the next two or three weeks. Angry Birds has long been a firm favourite on the iPhone and the free beta version released for Android has also proven a huge hit. Indeed the iPhone version has seen more than 7 million downloads.

The Android version works on devices running Eclair (Android 2.1) and above, and which also have at least a screen with VGA resolution. "We are currently working hard to ensure that Angry Birds on Android will offer the best game experience for as many people as possible" the company said. Rovio are currently sorting out last minute glitches like lag issues on older Android devices as well as making sure the app will be fully compatible with QVGA resolutions.

Nokia Sees Another Top Exec Depart    [ 13-09-2010 19:06 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: Engadget     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Nokia are set to see another of their top brass depart with the news that Anssi Vanjoki has decided to resign from his position as head of mobile solutions at the company. The announcement comes just days after it was confirmed that Stephen Elop, a former executive at Microsoft, would become Nokia's new CEO.

Vanjoki's departure is generally regarded as being tied to the change in CEO, either that or he has shocking timing in announcing his departure from the company. In a statement Vanjoki said:

I felt the time has come to seek new opportunities in my life. At the same time, I am one hundred per cent committed to doing my best for Nokia until my very last working day. I am also really looking forward to this year's Nokia World and sharing news about exciting new devices and solutions.
