Nokia To Launch $130 Million Windows Phone Ad Campaign    [ 14-07-2011 14:03 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: BGR     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

The first Nokia Windows Phone devices are not far off now, mere months, and to get the ball rolling Nokia is reportedly ready to unleash a massive ad campaign. UK based Marketing Magazine are reporting that Nokia are set to kick off their ad campaign in October, around the time the first handset is expected, and that it will see Nokia blow a cool $130 million on drumming up support for its new devices. The campaign is supposed to last for 6 months according to the same report.

A big ad campaign certainly won't hurt Windows Phone's chances given that its performance has been rather lacklustre since its launch last October. The operating system itself has been well received by critics, but so far the public haven't embraced it with Windows Phone barely registering 1% of the U.S. market and a similar story playing out around the rest of the world. Nevertheless many analysts are predicting the platform will achieve greatness, becoming one of the major players and Nokia splashing some cash won't hurt those odds.

Twitter For Android Gets Some Update Love    [ 14-07-2011 13:18 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Twitter via Engadget     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Twitter has been busy updating its Android app and the new version is looking pretty sweet. In addition to the usual bug fixes that come with an update Twitter have also included support for multiple accounts and switching between them looks pretty simple I have to say. The good stuff doesn't end there though as the update also sees push notification support and Twitter have even updated the home screen widgets for Android to boot! If you are running Android 2.1or higher you can head on over to the Market and try it out for yourself.

Spotify Finally Launches Stateside    [ 14-07-2011 10:16 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Spotify     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Did you invest in those shares for pig aviation goggles? Well you should have because Spotify has finally launched in the U.S. Yes, seriously. The American service brings with it 15 million tracks, mp3 importing, offline support and of course the ubiquitous social media integration. That's the good news. The bad news, well sort of bad news, is that the American service is currently in a beta state so access is restricted to invitation only. Ah, but of course there is way to gain early access... by ponying up some cash. If you sign up for either the Premium or Unlimited options you are ready to start right away.
