AT&T Updating Sony Ericsson X10 To 2.1    [ 01-06-2011 20:58 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: SE-NSE     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Good news for our American readers! AT&T will be updating branded Sony Ericsson X10 handsets to Eclair (Android 2.1). Yes it isn't Gingerbread I know, but an update is an update right? The Eclair update will bring along some new features such as 720p HD video recording, a new interface and of course the wierd excuse for multi-touch that is 'dualtouch'. The AT&T update comes a shocking 7 months after the initial Android 2.1 update so yes it is good news, but no doubt some people are still going to be pissed.

Eldar: Microsoft Prepared To Spend $19 Billion On Nokia Phone Division    [ 01-06-2011 20:05 ]

Author: Serge Novikov     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Eldar's tweeting fingers have been hard at work again providing some insight into some information he tweeted just the other week there. As the regular reader will know Eldar had tweeted about Microsoft buying up Nokia's phone division. Well today brought another tweet on the same subject:

Of course Nokia have come out saying that this is all 'baseless', in fact they even went so far as saying that it was '100 percent baseless'. The markets didn't appear to think the information baseless though as Nokia's share price jumped up on the news (not bad considering the share price was tanking yesterday) whilst Microsoft's share price dipped.

Video: Acer W4 Hands-On    [ 01-06-2011 19:54 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: Engadget     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Engadget managed to grab some hands-on time with the forthcoming Acer W4 Windows Phone handset. The good news is that it's running Mango. The bad news is that, as a handset, it's about as exciting as unbuttered toast. The specs sheet does not make for particularly enthralling reading: 3.6 inch screen (800x480), 1 GHz processor, 5 MP camera, 8 GB of internal storage (fair enough not bad here). Anyhoo take a peek at the video and see for yourself:

Video: How To Sell A Pink N8? Barbie Of Course!    [ 01-06-2011 19:47 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: Nokia     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Say what you will about Nokia, but unoriginal advertising isn't a charge I will let stand! To advertise their new pink N8 Nokia have decided to go with the tried and tested format of dressing a bunch of Barbie dolls up in slutty outfits, putting them in semi-erotic poses and over playing the whole thing with a Sugababe's track. It really is good old fashioned back to basics advertising. You can check out the ad below and below that is a 'making of' video so you can see how it all came together.
