Apple Dropped iPad Numbering To Be Less Predictable    [ 08-03-2012 21:03 ]

Author: Oleg Kononosov   Source: Gizmodo     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Yesterday's announcement of a new iPad may have brought many questions, but one that is definitely being discussed is why it wasn't called the iPad 3. The answer is very simple (so very Apple) as CEO Tim Cook explained in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. He told the Journal that Apple didn't call it the iPad 3 "... because we don't want to be predictable". Now you might argue that releasing a new device that looks almost exactly the same as the two previous version of the device isn't exactly being original, but then that's Apple for you. Whether customers will think something called simple the 'iPad' or something called the 'iPad 2' is the newer and more advanced remains to be seen.

Redsn0w Updated With Tethered Solution For iOS 5.1    [ 08-03-2012 01:17 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: Redmond Pie     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

iOS 5.1 may be only a day old, but that doesn't mean that the iPhone Dev Team hasn't been hard at work getting a jailbreak solution ready. The updated version of Redsn0w is a tethered solution for iOS 5.1 devices, meaning you will have to physically hook your device up to your computer. No doubt in time that little annoyance will be sorted out. The solution currently works for all devices using iOS 5.1 save for the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2.
