Video: Inductive Charging Mod For Samsung Galaxy S Plus    [ 19-09-2011 20:40 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: qianqin.de     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

The Galaxy S Plus hasmany features, but inductive charging isn't one of them. Step in Qian Qin, a German student, who really really wanted this feature on his Galaxy S Plus. Now it isn't just that he modded his phone to include inductive charging, he modded it without breaking the warranty and without making it look like a bad prop from StarTrek.

Purchasing a Palm pre back cover and a Touchstone dock the charging unit was removed from the Pre back cover and placed inside the Samsung back cover. A little soldering later and it was ready to roll. You can see it all go down in the video below and if you fancy giving it a shot yourself here are some instructions for you.

Samsung Seeking To Ban iPhone 5 In South Korea    [ 19-09-2011 18:01 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: The Korea Times     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Samsung may have been on the losing side of some of the recent spats in the ongoing Apple vs Saamsung war, but the South Korean company is certainly not beaten. Their latest tactic is to fight on their home turf by seeking to have the upcoming iPhone 5 banned from sale in South Korea.

A senior executive at Samsung, who remains nameless, told The Korea Times that Samsung would make its move as soon as the device was announced. They have to wait until the announcement since Samsung has been blocked from gaining access to the device as they previously requested. The executive went on to say that Samsung would use patents its holds to demand that Apple remove the telephone features from the iPhone 5, which would effectively make it an iPod Touch. If Apple didn't comply Samsung would be seeking a ban on its sale.
