Doro. Once More about Phones for Seniors

Naturally, you won't find in this article such expressions as GHz or Super AMOLED screen or many other things. The reason I want to tell you about Doro, or more precisely about their phones, is simple really. Doro is currently negotiating with the "Big Three" carriers and may be, sooner or later, these negotiations will give results. They were told that direct negotiations about phones' promotion through carriers in Russia are not a promising venture. But Doro holds the ground – this is how they want to make business – they are planning to sell their phones through carriers.

There are about ten phones at the Doro's showcase – technically they are very similar and differ in design, style and availability of support for deaf-aids and the Bluetooth interface. Let us have a look at some models:

Doro PhoneEasy 615

Possibly the most "stylish" phone the company offers. It also features a camera with a flash. It is aflip phone with two screens: an inner color screen and a small outer monochrome screen to view incoming or missed calls and SMSes.

Inside you find a large key pad, control keys, camera button and SMS buttons. The phone features a Bluetooth module that supports deaf-aids (M3/T4).

Doro PhoneEasy 610

The very same model 615 only without the outer monochrome display – it has a tray with several event icons instead.

Doro PhoneEasy 410gsm

As of the functionality and the style is an analog of the above mentioned models. The differences are – instead of a monochrome screen or an icon tray you see two LED indicators when the phone is opened. It also has FM radio.

On the stand this model was also available in an adapted for Russia variant: on the photos below you may see the localized key pad and the phone's menu.

Doro PhoneEasy 410gsm

A version of the previous model – the difference – no FM radio and the screen is smaller.

Doro PhoneEasy 332gsm

It is a candy bar phone with relatively large key pad, a small color screen and an SMS button. The major feature is HAC (hearing aid compatibility) technology that allows the phone to automatically adjust the volume for people with impaired hearing.

Doro PhoneEasy 345gsm

An oblong bar phone with a large key pad with rubber buttons and a small color screen. The phone features Bluetooth and supports deaf-aids, HAC technology and on-call vibro.

Doro PhoneEasy 341gsm

Concerning the style and the key pad it is the same model as the one above – only its screen is monochrome and there is no Bluetooth or support for deaf-aids.

For practically every model Doro also offers cases, charging cradles, car charger and headsets. Most models feature soft-touch plastic and feel solid in hand. And as you may see on the photos they look quite agreeable both in terms of the style and the color palette. I would personally like Doro to enter the Russian market of "grandma phones". You can see the efforts they have applied to make basic phones that would be easy to use for seniors. You can feel respect for the generation the phones are designed for. I do not know how to explain it, but I do not get this feeling dealing with other similar products available in Russia.
