Eldar: iPhone 3GS Won't Receive iOS 5 Update    [ 25-05-2011 17:20 ]

A tweet by our very own Eldar earlier today looks to have put the kabosh on any hope for the iPhone 3GS to run the expected iOS 5.0 firmware update.

Rumour had it that Apple were testing iOS 5.0 on the 3GS, but it wouldn't be surprising at all if they found it simply didn't run very well and have decided to drop it from that handset. Indeed anyone with an iPhone 3G will tell you how badly iOS 4 runs on that device so it could be a similar situation here.

On the bright side Eldar did say that the iPhone 4 will receive the update so all is not lost for those not able to immediately upgrade to the iPhone 5

Attack Steals 2,000 Customer Details From Sony Ericsson's Canadian E-Shop    [ 25-05-2011 17:02 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: Engadget via SE-NSE     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Sony haven't been having a very good time of it recently with first an attack on their global PlayStation Network gaming service and then a second atatck directed at their Greek online music service. Well now they have a third attack to add to the list as Sony Ericsson's Canadian e-shop has been attacked and customer data stolen.

The attacker(s) made off with the details of 2,000 customers although Sony Ericsson are saying that no credit details were taken and that those customers' passwords were in an encrypted format. Even so yet another attack and theft of data, even if it didn't include credit card details, will not be doing Sony's reputation much good and we can well imagine that Sir Howard will be asking some serious questions over data protection at the company.
