Instagram recently notched up 27 million users, but none of them (well very few) will be Android users given that the company has no Android app officially released as yet. An Android app has been touted before of course, but now it looks to be nearing fruition as TechCrunch saw during an interview with Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger from Instagram at the South by Southwest conference. The pair told TechCrunch that the Android app would be released 'really soon' and Systrom even showed the app off a bit running on his Galaxy Nexus. They claimed that "... it's one of the most amazing Android apps you'll ever see, in some ways, it's better than our iPhone app". That's a tall order to live up to given how good the iPhone version is, but if so then it will definitely have been worth the long wait for Android users. For the moment the app is in private beta.

Apple's newest iPad shows no signs of breaking the tradition the iPad has established of selling well, very well in fact. An Apple spokesperson informed USA Today that "Customer response to the new iPad has been off the charts and the quantity available for pre-order has been purchased". With the pre-order stock completely gone Apple are still urging customers to pre-order though, explaining that "Customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date". If the idea of an 'estimated' date doesn't float your boat you could always take your chances queuing up outside an Apple store in the hopes of getting one that way as Apple physical outlets will have additional supplies there along with whichever outlets Apple has teamed up with for the launch.
