Apple Prepping Production Of New 15 & 13.3-Inch MacBook Pros For April    [ 30-03-2012 19:51 ]

DigiTimes is reporting that Apple is gearing up to start production on a new 15-inch model of its MacBook Pro as well as a new 13.3-inch model this April. Citing unnamed sources DigiTimes says that Apple will be expecting a higher level of demand for the smaller version  and as such as ordered a much larger volume of the 13.3-inch model than the 15-inch version. Production on the 15-inch model should start at between 100,000-150,000 units per month according to DigiTimes, and then gradually ramp up from there. This of course comes straight on the back of the longstanding rumour of a 15-inch version of the MacBook Air, which has consistently been touted as having a launch window sometime in the latter half of this year.

Security Expert Warns Of Identity Theft Risk From Selling Old Android Phones    [ 30-03-2012 19:49 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: LA Times     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Android users are at risk of identity theft if they sell their old smartphone according to Robert Siciliano, an identity theft researcher at McAfee. He is warning users that even if they follow the guidelines for wiping data from an old Android device the data in fact remains on the device. Siciliano bought 30 different used devices from Craglist and using his own expertise alongside that of a forensics expert he was able to obtain personal information about previous owners from 15 of those devices. That infromation included data such as social security numbers, bank details and credit cards account logins. The warning apparently doesn't concern BlackBerrys or iPhones, which will indeed wipe a user's data if they follow the recommended protocol. Siciliano's advice to Android users is pretty simple:

Put it in the back of a closet, or put it in a vise and drill holes in the hardrive, or if you live in Texas take it out ito a field and shoot it. You don't want to sell your identity for 50 bucks.
